District Arts Festival 2021 Brendan Braasch

Artist Statement: My name is Brendan Braasch, I’ve been taking digital arts classes for the past 4 years. My journey as an artist started as just a way to fill my schedule. Of course I picked it because of my love of computers and video games, but it was only really to have something to do. It was that year that I discovered how much I enjoyed creating models. I had drawn inspiration from the video games I played, and used the knowledge I gained from classes to make models. This was my way of making art that I was proud of.

Throughout the years I had found what I liked and disliked doing and using, and had based what I did off that. With staying away from realistic texturing as much as possible and using solid colors. Or how I got into the method of making 2d objects and converting them to 3d. However I did not only model things, I had also gotten into video editing as well. I had done things like helped edit videos for friends projects or youtube channels. As well as editing some stuff of my own. Even though I enjoy editing I still dont think it’s going to be something big for me.

This final year has been my biggest work year yet. I had taken my inspiration of video games to the next level, where I started making game assets. I had found something to put my modeling to the test with. This year if anything has left me with one big future goal of making a game. This senior year has been the most difficult year for my art career as I’ve had a lot less time than the past years. Nevertheless, I know that art will be my future and I’m going to work hard to reach it.
