Who is the Programme for?
This programme is strictly for Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse people who have been made redundant in the last 5 months or those who are currently at risk of being made redundant. We will require proof. We expect a large response to this call-out so please think carefully if this programme applies to you and your needs. The #AllOfUs team seeks to actively encourage applications from those whose lives intersect with other identities alongside race and ethnicity.
We want to hear from front of house, stage managers, technicians, arts producers, community engagement practitioners, museum and gallery curators, designers, festival producers, library managers, musicians, visual artists, choreographers, dancers - anyone who has been made redundant from a paid role or who is at risk of redundancy. Even if you are on furlough leave and this applies to you - we want to hear from you.
The #HereToStay Programme
This will be a 4 week package of practical support to help upskill and empower workers who face employment uncertainty to regain their confidence in the workplace. Participants will get financial assistance, coaching, mentoring, masterclasses, health, wellbeing and faith support plus CV and application guidance, delivered by a team of senior arts professionals with a wealth of experience.
We want to ensure that each person who is part of the #HereToStay 4 week programme will be wholly supported whilst getting back into the workforce. There are limited spaces on offer for each element of the programme, therefore it is highly unlikely participants will get to participate in every strand described below. We aim to match participants according to their top 3 choices.
What is on offer
The programme is designed by Stella Kanu & Shawab Iqbal - and has been produced and developed together with Annika Brown, Monique Baptiste Brown, and Titilola Dawudu. We are supported by industry professionals delivering masterclasses, coaching, and mentoring support.
18-21 years old?
We recognise that many of us have come up through theatre, music and other art forms via venues or organisations that keep their doors open. If you started in youth programmes, moved to front of house positions or co-delivered workshops, having your contract cancelled can mean more than just losing your job - you lose a whole piece of your belonging, especially with shutdown keeping many venues and welcoming offices closed. If you are aged between 18-21, alongside other sessions in the programme we have created special closed sessions for you as a unique part of #HereToStay. You will connect with other young people, talking with, sharing with and learning with young professionals who work in participation.
Who can apply?
You must be at risk of redundancy or have been recently made redundant in the last 5 months.
- based in the UK aged at least 18 years old
- available during 2 September - 27 September
- identify as Black, Asian, or ethnically diverse
Selection process
The panel will consist of Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse leaders from across art forms / job roles. We are expecting high demand for places, so we’ll be allocating places across a variety of criteria including but not exclusive to:
- art forms
- geographic regions and location
- balance of identities
- good representation of all levels of roles and role types
The answers you provide in your application form will help us to select participants and match you with a suitable coach or mentor.
What is the time commitment?
You will be ready to:
• actively participate in your mentoring or coaching relationship - when we connect you and your mentor or coach, you MUST stay in contact and you are accountable for turning up to your session on time and ready. They have been instructed not to chase you!
• we estimate that you will need to allocate a minimum of 4 hours per week for the masterclasses and 4 hours per week application writing / researching / listening / assignment time
• digital meetups and inspirational talks will be scheduled each week for 90 minutes at a time
• to fully benefit from this programme requires a minimum of 8 hours each working week
Access support
We recognise that you might need additional support to participate in this programme - whether that is technical equipment or childcare costs, access support or adjustments to the programme. Please let us know what you need in the application form.
What does it cost to participate?
- this is a free programme
- we are expecting a huge amount of applications
- we have 100 spaces
- we have 60 spaces for mentors / masterclass
- we have a crisis fund and a separate access fund to support attending the programme
