Monday, Aug. 9

Dear University community,

  • It’s always nice to have our alumni back on campus. Last week, TAMIU alum and Congressman Henry Cuellar (MBA ’82) stopped by with some great news…TAMIU and its students will benefit from nearly $31 million in federal funding awards and grants. Find out more.
  • The most immediate effect is over $7 million in student emergency grant assistance through TAMIU Cares, which opens this week. Students, you have until Sept. 8 to apply.
  • After months of COVID-19 Pandemic-distanced and technology-brokered learning, incoming students may need additional help as they transition to a full campus experience this Fall. Through federal funding, we’ve dedicated some $383,146 to add visiting faculty, and expand mentors and tutors, supplemental instructors, and learning support specialists. In total, 84 positions focused on helping students are being added this Fall.
  • As today’s employers place greater emphasis on the need for social justice awareness by prospective employees, TAMIU is helping to address this workplace demand through its Women’s and Gender Studies (WGST) minor. Explore the options.
  • Know any students still unsure about where they will land this Fall? Invite them to visit us at Future Dustdevils. If they are a transfer student, we’ve got some distinct additional opportunities.
  • Don’t forget: COVID-19 Vaccinations are still available on campus every Wednesday and Thursday through our National Guard partnership. They’re free of charge and open to all. Additional vaccination dates and more on free on-campus COVID-19 Testing are located here. If you’d like to be eligible for some great prizes, including free tuition, consider joining our Be A Champ, Get the Shot campaign.
  • Employees, it’s your turn to join the Be A Champ campaign and be eligible for nifty prizes as well. Here’s the details.
  • Yes, registration for Fall is on. The countdown begins…for a full and vibrant, on-campus experience.

We can’t wait to welcome everybody back. Have a great week and Go Dustdevils!
