Dear University community,
- We have all just observed a sad anniversary: a year spent battling the COVID-19 Pandemic worldwide. So much has changed. So many and so much has been lost.
- Now, incidences are dropping. Hospitalizations are lessening. Vaccines are being delivered. But this is no time to let down our guard or be complacent. Read more about why we continue our aggressive free COVID-19 testing program here on campus and your vital role in protecting all Dustdevils.
- This past weekend, in partnership with the City of Laredo, we hosted an appointment based COVID-19 Vaccination Drive here. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our TAMIU student nurses. Some 120 of them helped this effort and their contribution made its success possible.
- TAMIU CARES or federal Relief Response Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSAA) relief funds applications remain open today, Monday to 3 p.m. only. If you meet criteria, please pursue this opportunity.
- “Bringing the University to You” is a new, virtual lecture series focused on delving into various issues connected to “Borders.” The lectures are free and open to the public. Suzanne Strempek Shea is our next lecturer on March 11. Please share widely with family and friends. Participants may register here free of charge.
- Upcoming: Our Phi Theta Kappa Chapter 296 will host its first-ever Virtual Member Initiation on Saturday, March 13. Details are below.
- Have a great week, Dustdevils. Please test, test and test again!
Go Dustdevils!

TAMIU Students Participate in Statewide Virtual Undergraduate Research Day
Three undergraduate students from TAMIU were invited to virtually attend a statewide research initiative showcasing their endeavors. Students Marshal Moncivais, Miguelangel Treviño, and Carlos Delgado crafted a virtual academic poster as part of the Texas Undergraduate Research Day.
“I congratulate our students on their selection for this statewide research recognition. This type of faculty-student research collaboration is a distinction of our undergraduate program here.
