Giraffes

Physical Appearance

Towering over the African plains, the majestic Giraffe can be spotted clearly with their long necks. You think trees are tall, maybe you should think again, take a look at a giraffe's legs. They are around 16-18 ft tall or 5m and they are the tallest land animal in the world. Giraffes are lofty animals and they are described as powerful, harmless, shy, distinct Somali, rheumatic young, beastly wooden, cautious and always hungry, big skinny, damned ghoulish, towering.

Habitat

Giraffes are located in the South West, These amazing majestic Giraffes live in Savannas, Grasslands and Woodlands which supply them with what they need for a lifetime, like sunshine water and food. Giraffes live primarily in Savanna areas in the region of Africa. They live up to 25 years in their wild habitat. Giraffes need lots of space because they are massive creatures. Giraffes need high trees so they don't need to bend over to eat.

Diet

Giraffes have a very special diet which is acacia trees and branches. Giraffes prefer to eat acacia but they will eat branches when they need to. The acacia trees that they eat from always have fresh leaves for them to munch on. They also eat carrots and high-fiber biscuits, so they can digest the food that they eat.

Life Cycle

Giraffes live for around 25 years, giraffes start to mature at 3 to 5 years of age. When they are adults they go into groups called herds. Herds are a group of adult giraffes, they stay in these groups to avoid their predators. An average giraffe can weigh up to 800 to 930 kgs which is more than a gorilla.

Predators

Giraffes are hunted by people/poachers more than animals, poachers hunt down giraffes for their skin, head and mainly their tails. Poachers go into their natural habitat and cut off the giraffe's tail and leave them there to bleed to death. Some people even kill them and stuff them to make money. Giraffes main animal predators are lions, leopards, african wild dogs and spotted hyenas. Giraffes stay in their herds to keep safe from predators.

Conclusion

In conclusion Giraffes are endangered because they get poached, they are hunted for their skin, head and tail. Giraffes have done nothing wrong to deserve this, if we lose our giraffes their will be nothing to protect our plants and savannas. Giraffes are beautiful animals and deserve the right to live their life like any other animal.
