SPOOKY NOISES From children's book to audio drama

The Spooky Noises project began in 1993, with the publication of the original picture book, written by Simon James Collier, illustrated by Louise Comfort and designed by Lisa Coombes. The original book was published by Sticky Buns Limited and proved to be a great success, both in English and other languages.

In 2011/12 composer Richard Bates began re-working the piece with Collier, but in order to expand the story they combined the original premise with the addition of the 'Norman' series of books, a spin-off based on one of the original characters. The first 'Norman' book was published in association with the Barnados charity.

In 2015 a second workshop of Spooky Noises was presented at The Umbrella Rooms, Shaftesbury Avenue, London, and directed by Omar F. Okai. There was additional reworking of the material, which then provided the basis for the audio production recording in August 2018.
