A Summer of Learning 2 Kleinschmidt interns share their experiences

For more than 50 years, Kleinschmidt has provided engineering, regulatory, and environmental consulting services to energy companies and government agencies across North America. We were pleased to host several interns with us for the summer of 2019 to learn more about our business and to help them as they pursue their various career paths.

Meet Hannah Cunningham. She is a senior at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. She is a Business and Finance double major and will graduate in May 2020.

"This summer I had the wonderful opportunity to be the accounting intern for Kleinschmidt in the Pittsfield, Maine office. During my time I was able to work alongside Rochelle Varney, Controller for the company. She taught me so many things that I look forward to bringing with me into my senior year of college. Rochelle has been very helpful and provided me with so many opportunities to learn and grow and learn. When I first started she helped walk me through a variety of different areas and become familiar with new things. Eventually I worked up to being given control of all the month end duties for a Kleinschmidt subsidiary, Water and Willow, along with its financial statements each month. I was able to sit down with everyone in the office to learn about what each person contributed to this and eventually learned how to do it myself."

"While working in the accounting department I was also given several other responsibilities in the office. I was asked to collect all the digital signatures for each shareholder in the company. While this specific project was very time consuming and tedious, I was able to meet so many different people throughout the entire company. This was a great project for an intern because it allowed me to feel even more welcomed here. Another large project I was given was helping Renea Qua, Purchasing Manager, with filing and organizing the foreign prints and photo lab. This project kept me busy on days when my other duties were not as time consuming."

"Throughout my time here at Kleinschmidt I have enjoyed every minute! I have worked with amazing people here in the accounting office, the entire Pittsfield, Maine office, as well as people throughout the entire company. Everyone here has been so welcoming and helpful during my time here this summer. Working here has allowed me to learn so many new things that I may not have just being in a classroom.

While my last day working here to the summer is August 7th, I am happy to say that I will be returning for my breaks throughout my school year. Thank you for letting me be a part of this very warm and welcoming Kleinschmidt family!"
