Background
- many reefs fishes utilize ledges in both schools and individually
- ledges vary from reef to reef in three dimensional structure
Hypothesis
- ledges of different volumes will have varying influence on functional feeding group composition
- fish occupancy will shift from day to night
Predictions
- ledges of greater volume will have a larger abundance of predators
- fish will be more abundant and diverse at night
Methods
- 50m Transect across top of ledge
- 4 transects perpendicular every 10m along 50m top of ledge
- measure height and depth of ledge
- utilize both cameras (10m) and visual surveys along reef
So What
- helps us better understand the relationship between structure and fish community
- helps us develop categorization of reefs
- large amount of data to analyze
