Garelick and Herbs remains a superior culinary experience By Alex Reiner

Garelick and Herbs moved to their new location at 3611 Post Road in Southport on Sept. 8. The new location is more spacious than the previous spot down the road. Garelick’s customers can now enjoy additional food items as well as a large outdoor patio.

A beautiful display at the entrance of Garelick and Herbs

Garelick and Herbs provides the customer with an array of palate pleasing options. Customers will continue to savor the signature salad bar and brick oven pizza while being treated to some new editions, such as an omelet station and an antipasto bar. There is even an impressive cheese display, one that would be found at a Parisian market.

However, with these editions, it seems like they are struggling with the format of the store. As I wandered through the store, I did not know what to expect each time I turned; the organization of the store is confusing. There is also more outdoor seating than before; however, it is very loud as it borders on the Post Road.

Yummy! Garelick and Herbs offers an array of delicious desserts

Another negative aspect of this experience was the amount of time it took to be served. While there were many employees behind the counter preparing food, only a few were helping the long line of customers. The employees seemed to be particularly chatty with the customers, possibly slowing down the ordering process. I had to wait at least ten minutes to be helped with only one family ahead of me.

Garelick and Herbs' new location offers more prepared foods and has an omelette bar

Despite these flaws, Garelick and Herbs remains a top notch eatery. The prepared foods, such as the pasta salads and grilled fish, are nearly identical to that which they sold at their previous location. These foods and their baked goods are displayed in elegant and enticing fashion, making it hard for a customer to leave empty handed. Also, Garelick and Herbs sells fewer home decorating items, which I think is beneficial as it makes the space less cluttered and more cuisine focused.

Overall, despite the slow service, it was still a positive experience because the food was still superb and the new Garelick and Herbs is aesthetically pleasing. I strongly recommend going to Garelick and Herbs as it is a great culinary experience.
