2nd Microbiome Symposium September 25th, 2018

The 2nd Annual Microbiome Symposium & data-blitz took place on September 25th 2018 at the UCR Genomic Conference Auditorium. The event brought together researchers from multiple fields across our campus, fostering interdisciplinary interactions. There were 24 scholars presenting on the latest research and information related to microbiome initiatives.

Dr Joel Sachs and Dr James Borneman commenced the symposium and introduced the keynote speaker Dr Karsten Zengler from UC San Diego.

The keynote speaker at the 2nd Annual Microbiome Symposium: Karsten Zengler, Associate Professor University of California, San Diego; Department of Pediatrics, Division of Host-Microbe Systems & Therapeutics, UCSD. Dr Zengler talked about "Unraveling Host-Microbe Interactions".

Symposium also included a talk from Dr Anne Runkel from Koch Biological Solutions, information for funding opportunities on microbiome science from Dr Helen Chen (Grant facilitator for CNAS) and a crossdisciplinary discourse on microbiome from Dr Gloria Chan-Sook Kim (Assistant Professor of Media and Culture, CHASS) .
