Urban Impulses Latin American Photography Y11 GCSE PHOTOGRAPHY

On Wednesday 18th September 2019 our year 11 GCSE Photography students travelled to The Photographers’ Gallery in central London to see the exhibition, Urban Impulses - Latin American Photography.

‘Offering a diversity of artistic approaches, from street documentary to collage, the show traces a constellation of significant historical events that have marked the region: the Cuban revolution, military dictatorships in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Paraguay, along with mass social movements which, in still unconsolidated democracies, have given way to repression.’

Workshop photos

At the gallery all students took part in a workshop based on the main exhibition, making collages, montages and taking photographs. They spent time looking at the exhibition and they used some of the images as inspiration to help them take their own photographs and develop ideas for their personal coursework project.
