Grade: Senior

Role on the team: All three girls are team captains.

Recent team results: The PV girls dance team won Nationals with their pom dance over the 30 other teams in the competition. The team performance was also undefeated locally and placed third in Nationals with that dance. At the regional competition, they won first place for both routines and won Grand Champion, which is the highest score at the competition.

Expectations for the season:

Mattessich: “This year we were really pushing ourselves to try to win the pom category at Nationals because it is the biggest category there and the most intense and competitive. We really pushed for that this season and really try to take as many titles and first places as we can.”

Viceconte: “I was pretty excited because I was a captain last year so I knew what I was expecting coming into the year. We had a lot of new girls because we had incoming freshman and I was nervous at first but we figured it out and we were able to pick up every really easily.”

Hagen: “This year we had a lot of new freshman and new members so we were really interested in seeing how the season would develop with all these new girls. We were happy to see that we could hold up another National title this season.”

What They Like Most About Their Sport:

Mattessich: "The friendship of the team is the greatest thing. It is such a great bond and just to be able to have so many successful years on this team and we’re always there for each other.”

Viceconte: “I like the feeling I get when I’m competing and that I have made such good friends on the team and I love the environment. I have met some of my best friends on the team especially two girls from Hills that I am really close with, so I’ve gotten to meet new people.”

Hagen: “I like how it allows me to make a lot of new friends in different grades as well as people from Pascack Hills.”

Best Dance Memory: Winning Nationals this year for pom was the best memory for all three girls.

Proudest Dance Moment:

Viceconte: “Becoming a captain my junior year was pretty cool and I was also picked for the lead part in one of our dances this year.”

Hagen: “When we won Grand Champion at Regionals this year because we weren’t really expecting it and it was a really nice victory.”

Funniest Dance Moment:

Mattessich: “When we go to dancing camps we always make the best memories there because we’re with each other for four nights in a row.”

Hagen: “When we went to camp because we did a lot of team bonding fun activity.”

Viceconte: “At Nationals we made Tik Toks with our coaches.”

Best Thing About PV:

Mattessich: “The atmosphere itself is a great place to go to school."

Viceconte: “I like how close everyone is with the teacher and the environment.”

Hagen: “I like how it’s a close community and everyone gets along and you can be friendly with anyone.”

Favorite Team Song: The team listens to "Take It" by Dom Dolla, as well as Tik Tok songs before competitions.

Mattessich: Ms. Reese

Viceconte: Ms. Petaccia

Hagen: Mr. Nilsen

Favorite pregame meal/snacks:

Mattessich: “Before our bigger competitions we all have dinner and stock up on our carbs."

Dance Superstitions: The captains of the team do what they call a “Pep Up” where they pick a quote and read it to the team and put it in their shoes right before they perform.

Favorite Pro Athlete: The girls all look up to the college teams that win multiple national titles as inspirations to the team.

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor:

Mattessich: Chocolate chip cookie dough.

Viceconte: Mint chocolate chip

One Superpower:

Mattessich: Invisibility

What They Do In Their Free Time:

Mattessich: She works at a gymnastics studio as a coach and enjoys running when she’s away from dance and work.

Viceconte: She likes to run on her own in her free time.

Hagen: She likes to hang out with friends when she is free.

Role Models:

Mattessich: “Having Kelsey and Sarah there, it is an inspiration being captains of the team and if one of us has to step up, [we do]. The bond between us is so inspiring,” she said.

Viceconte: "My coaches and college dance teams like Ohio State because they are really good,” she said.

Hagen: “My parents because they always support me and allow me to do the things I love – like dance,” she said.

Future Plans:

Mattessich: She is not completely set on what she wants to do in college in terms of dance but she would maybe like to do something club related.

Viceconte: She does not plan to continue her dance career into college.

Hagen: She doesn’t know if she wants to dance in college but she is definitely considering it.
