Leith established Par Excellence in 1994 and has a loyal client base, many of whom have been with us since day one. Most of our business comes from word-of-mouth referrals. Our in-house capability is complemented by a broad-ranging network of other service providers such as specialist graphic designers, copywriters, scientific writers, photographers, marketing consultants and so on.

We have a wealth of document design experience. Bringing together skills in typography, layout and composition, colour, and imagery we will produce a document that will speak to your target audience.

Thesis templates and editing

Writing a thesis is a labour of love. It’s a big task and there’s a lot to think about.

Par Excellence and The Polished Page have been working together for over 13 years. We’ve worked with many students who needed help to fix the formatting on their theses, especially those who were attempting to combine many chapters into one document. If only they’d used a template!

What is thesis template?

A thesis Word template (.dotx) is written especially for you to install on your computer. It acts as a framework for your thesis. Whether you are writing one large document or writing chapter-by-chapter, a template can diminish or eliminate many of the common problems that writers have with Word.

Our templates have professional-looking formatting so you can be confident that your finished thesis is a pleasure to read and complies with the criteria of your university.

We will write a template customised for you according to the requirements of your supervisor, faculty or university. It will contain everything you need, set up and ready to go:

The guide is written in simple language and shows you how to install and use your template. It also walks you through automatically generating a table of contents, cross referencing and section breaks.

Editing and proofreading

We also offer a thesis editing and proofreading service.

All work is completed according to the academic editing standards of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) which are approved by the Australian Council of Graduate Research (ACGR). It is important to note that editing and proofreading may not address matters of content and structure; these are matters for your supervisor. Our services cover such matters as language use, grammar, spelling and consistency. Your thesis will be returned to you with suggested alterations in tracked changes. It is your responsibility to review and accept/reject the suggested changes.

Our editing and proofreading service can be provided on an ongoing basis as you work through your thesis, or as a final review of your document prior to its submission for examination.

Shorthand minute taking

That nearly-lost skill of shorthand minute taking is still a requirement at meetings where it is either wise or essential to record accurately the content and outcome. We have extensive experience in this area and can provide these services for any business or organisation. We understand that the most important criteria for minute taking are confidentiality and timely delivery of the transcribed document.

Transcriptions

We also provide verbatim transcriptions from audio recordings of interviews and meetings. We have extensive experience in transcriptions for various state and Australian government departments, universities and law firms.
