WORKING BEE The final working bee for 2019 is scheduled for this Saturday morning and we strongly encourage everyone to attend. There’s always plenty to do, it’s a great opportunity to meet new people, or catch up with known friends and acquaintances, and all in the best interests of the school. And don’t forget – the class with the greatest representation of family members in attendance wins a free sausage sizzle lunch at a date to be advised before the end of the year. What more could you want??
PUPIL FREE DAY I hope everyone is fully aware that we have one more pupil free day for 2018 which has been approved by School Council. It is set down for Monday, December 17. Day care is available through OSH Club. Staff will not have a planning week this term, but will rather use this day to commence planning, in teams, for 2019.
FINANCE SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING The Finance Subcommittee is scheduled to meet tonight, Thursday November 8, to commence the budgeting process for 2019. The meeting is due to run from 5pm until 7pm.
SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING The November meeting of School Council is scheduled for next Thursday night, commencing at 7.00pm in the staffroom.
FAMILY LIFE The annual program for our Grade 5s commences on Monday, November 12. Many thanks to Narelle Taylor, Grade 5 team leader, for organising a parent session last Thursday which was attended by a number of parents. The program is run by Family Life Victoria and this was an opportunity to outline for parents the content and approach to the program.
Enjoy your weekend.
Kind regards,
Bill Kersing
Principal
SECOND HAND UNIFORM SALE A sale of second hand school uniforms will be held during the School Working Bee this Saturday 10th November between 9.00-10.30am. School jumpers with the logo, school dresses and Year 6 polo tops are $5.00 and all other items are $2.00. All items have been washed.
I look forward to seeing lots of families at the working bee on Saturday. Remember, the grade who has the most attendees will win a special lunch. I wonder which grade it will be?
Have a great week
Gill Nicholls

ELECTION DAY SAUSAGE SIZZLE & BAKE SALE Viewbank Primary School are doing a fundraiser sausage sizzle and bake sale on Saturday November 24 in conjunction with the Election polling day. All money raised at this event will go towards future school improvements such as the oval area renovation.
We are looking for some bakers that can help fill the bake stall with some delicious homebaked goods.
Homebaked goods can be any type of home baked goods, such as cakes, muffins, slices, biscuits etc. that are ready (paper plates, boxes, plastic bags) for sale either whole plates or smaller/individually packaged goods. Goods cannot contain ingredients that require refrigeration (ie. fresh cream), as these facilities are not available. All items will need to be labeled with ingredients.
We are also seeking volunteers to help with the organising of the goods on Friday 23 and people to man the cake stall and sausage sizzle on Saturday 24.
If you are able to help in any way even an hour or two of your time or the donation of baked goods we would be very grateful for your support.
For any queries please contact (bake sale) Brooke - brooke@smoiled.com or (BBQ) Kim - kgraps@gmail.com or see the school office.
Thank you

Drought Relief for Farmers Free Dress Day
On Friday the 23rd of November there will be a free dress day with a gold coin donation. We’re raising money to help farmers who are experiencing a long drought. Children can dress up as a farmer or a farm animal. The drought has affected parts of Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. Farmers are not able to produce the products Australia needs.
All money raised will go to “Drought Angels” who help farmers all around Australia.
Thanks for reading.

Along with the health benefits it also reduces traffic congestion and parking, helps us connect with the community and saves the environment!
Part way is okay! If you can’t walk the whole way, why not try parking at your nearest meeting place and walk, ride or scoot the rest.
Safe Routes to School Map Banyule Council has provided a Safe Routes to School Map. Viewbank Primary’s has convenient meeting places highlighted where families could meet in the mornings before they start their walk. The maps are available at the front office so you can familiarise yourself with the safest way to walk to school.
