Areas of Focus
Video Game Design
Making an engaging experience takes time, and teams. The Conduit focuses on core areas of the interactive media design process including Levels, Narrative, Content, Systems Design, Technical Design, User Experience, User Interface, and Full Body Motion Capture, via games user research methodologies.
Esports Broadcasting
From content production on platforms like Twitch & YouTube, there is no denying that content creators are all facing new standards of engaging audiences. The Conduit focuses on the components of content creation from the personal level, to the professional level, including virtual studio production.
Esports Infrastructure
The heart of esports lies within the communities who love and play video games.
Administratively, esports at the collegiate level can be difficult for newcomers. The conduit helps create facilities to support casual and varsity-level game players, informing the development of facilities - substantiated by data gathered from the community.
TEAM
Dr. Kristopher Alexander
Director of Research
Dr. Kristopher Alexander is your go-to academic expert in video games and esports. A formerly globally ranked Street Fighter 3 and Lightseekers player with over 30 years of experience with the medium, his quest is to legitimize video games through data. This is done via research, operational facility development, governmental advocacy, and creative content production.
As an on-air personality known as Video Games Prof, Dr. Alexander helps professionals make substantiated decisions, by answering relevant questions related to video game design, esports production, and collegiate esports infrastructure.
Geoffrey Lachapelle, M.A.
Director of Operations
Geoffrey Lachapelle's work is all about video games. He is a former competitive Halo 3 and Call of Duty player, and was a nationally ranked player in Magic: The Gathering. Recently, he lead Humber College's Esports program to become one of the best in Canada. He is on a mission to legitimize video games as an art medium and educational tool through his companies IQ Esports and Save State (TBA).
Geoffrey is an award-winning producer, notably through The Artists, which won a Canadian Screen Award in 2019. Geoffrey has been a special guest of several international events including the GDC 2019 Film Festival and the China World VR Conference in 2018. He guides companies through consulting and education, project management, governmental advocacy, and creative development.
