Mrs. Ganzhorn's First Graders Learn about Math & Science Tools!

Mrs. Ganzhorn's first graders have been busy learning about math and science tools. Students learned why scientists need tools and explored using nets during an outdoor activity presentation by Harrison County Naturalist, Connie Betts. Students have also been learning how to use tools and then collect data.

In science students hypothesized if a marble would float or sink and if it would float or sink while contained in a small container. Students observed, hypothesized, collected data, and then stated a conclusion.

In math, students are using tools to measure and create shapes. Students used cubes and popsicle sticks to measure objects around the room. Students were also introduced to polydrons to create geometric shapes.
