Emory Oxford wins national championship, extends record to five consecutive titles

The Emory Oxford (GA) Eagles swept all nine championship flights on Sunday in Peachtree City, GA to capture the 2019 NJCAA DIII Women's Tennis Championship, the program's fifth consecutive title and sixth overall.

The Eagles were led by sophomore Cody Lu who captured both No. 1 singles and teamed up with freshman Frances Lee to claim No. 1 doubles. 2019 marks the fourth consecutive year the Eagles have won all nine flights at the national tournament.

Northampton (PA) put together an impressive performance on Day Two of the tournament to jump to second place. The Spartans prevailed on Sunday to finish as runners-up.

A year after taking home the No. 2 singles title, Cody Lu upped her performance as a sophomore to claim the No. 1 singles flight in her final contest for the Eagles. Lu also repeated as the No. 1 doubles champion after winning the flight for the second consecutive year.

Allison Park captured No. 2 singles for the Eagles while Lee was victorious in the No. 3 singles flight. June Woo, Jenna Shin, and Hailey Kim all claimed singles titles as well for Emory Oxford.

Making their fifth overall appearance at the national tournament, Northampton boasted a second-place finish, the best result in program history for the Spartans who placed fifth at the 2018 tournament.

The Spartans were led by a trio of runner-up finishes in singles flights - Viktoria Swanson at No. 2 singles, Alyssa Kapcsos at No. 4 singles, and Morgan Putvinski at No. 6 singles.

Northampton's Viktoria Swanson finsihed as runner-up in the No. 2 singles flight, helping the Spartans to the team second-place finish.
