Unified Track Unifed track competes at sectionals

The Unified track team competed in Sectionals on Saturday, May 18 at Bloomington North. The team placed eighth overall at the meet, but Zach Skluzacek '19 placed first in the 100.

"Today I won the 100," Skluzacek said. "I was very excited to place first. I have worked really hard this year."

Liam Price '20 throws shot-put in the Sectional meet. "Today I got my PR up to 33.6 feet in the shot-put," Price said. "I was very excited about that."

Sam Venegas '21 also competed in shot-put at the meet. "My favorite event is shot put because I can get better at it, communicate with more people, and make friends from other schools," Venegas said.

Allen Schwedler '19 competed in long jump. "I love long jump; it’s my favorite event," Schwedler said. "I think I did a good job today, but my favorite part of the meet was seeing my friends compete in different events."

Braedon Grube '21 races in the 4x100.

"I was in the 4x100 today and I personally think that I did a good job because I got new shoes that help me go faster," Grube said.

Emily Skluzacek '20 competed in the long jump. "I think I did okay in today's event. I am trying to improve my distance," Skluzacek said. "My best so far is 10 ft 1 in."

The Unified track head coach Holly White was proud of how the team did this season. "Looking at the competition I knew we may have some challenges, but our team has done well this year and works hard," White said. "I'm looking forward to see how we will do next season."
