Having a set schedule is a great way to start!
If you feel like you're alone, you are not. Here are some of the challenges 6th graders are having trying to do school from home while under COVID-19 Quarantine:
Some I can do easy but some i can't cause they are just way to hard for me
Not many, I just miss my friends. I actually think that I'm getting more work done at home than at school (Only because I have a straight 8 hours to work rather than only 4)
Distractions
My two challenges I have are, 1. all of the distractions and 2. is not getting everything explained as clearly as if I was at school.
um some-times i don't feel like getting up and doing it
for me it is trying to get my work done before 4:00 because that is when we usually put our computers away
I have some problems with remembering about the reading journal for a project I was supposed to do and I didn’t and Then I’m a little late
Probably just not being able to socialize as much because that's just who I am i'm a really energetic person that's always wanting to talk with people, which can be a problem sometimes. Also just not being able to go anywhere, I mean besides going to poulsbo to see the coolest grandparents everrrr.
I don't have any other challenges other than schoolwork
it's harder to understand things in my opinion. And you can get more distracted easily i guess.
Distractions
focusing
I don't understand so much
stuff that involves groups
challenges that i have with doing school work at home is there are so many things ro do at home like play outside and there are so many distractions at home but when at school there are less distractions so it is easier to focus and stay on task
What challenges me is that I get off track and not do some of my school work.
Because of the closure I can get my work done at school but as soon as I get home it's like home work just got way harder
my brother & I share a computer & my mom isn't home to help during the day
I want to spend time with my siblings and do things I don't usually have time for. Like crafting, playing my piano, and just relaxing.
Sometimes I'd rather be doing other things.
None really, I just get easily distracted and I take care of my stress.
im confused because its harder for me to learn withought the teachers showing me what to do
no communication
I have so much work to do that I sit around all day staring at a screen.
Here's the advice 6th graders have for each other to get through this and get your school work done:
I'm not done with Ocean Acidification yet, but I would say that if you are a student who is struggling with school or homework, then my go-to would be to ask my parents to help me with something. If that didn't work, I'll message Mr. Gonzalez on Classcraft or Bloomz for other teachers. And maybe even schedule a Zoom with their teachers. That would probably be my go-to if I were a student who struggled in school.
Working isn't very fun but you still gotta do it because if you don't, you will get a bad grade
Just go at your own pace and remember when you get all of this done you can just go play and stay calm.
I mean I just get up in the morning and do it so I can just get it over with then I have the whole day
I take my time and take brain breaks sometimes.
What's working for me is that I call my friends for help sometimes or they call me for help
Honestly I'm pretty sure that everyone is mostly using this as "vacation" time even though we have to stay home, but everything working just fine for me accept for some stuff for Mr. Brennan. My moms a teacher so she's always keeping me on track, but at the same time it's pretty stressful because it's constant.
Just do it
You could get some help from either contacting your teachers for help or go to a family member.
What's working for me is I see how much work I have and when its due so I can spread it out over the week
I just ask my mom for help and she also makes me do this stuff
every thing is just fine
keep on trying
Check Classcraft every day and make a school work to do list
What is working for me is to have a schedule for ever day witch my is the same every day.
Pace yourself and don't try and do all of your work at once.
I say if you have to get caught up, take it slow and don't stress because it makes it worse, do one or 2 assignments a day so you aren't rushing.
Listening to music and doing my work
