Boys and Girls XC battle West Ottawa Camille Berko

The boys and girls cross country teams faced off against West Ottawa on Tuesday, Oct. 13 competing in the OK-Red Conference.

FINISH: Junior James Held approaches the final stretch of the course. He placed 30 overall.

TEAMWORK: On the left, junior Jon Tysman, and on the right, senior Cole Rowden work together during the competition. Tysman finished 4th and Rowden finished 3rd overall.

The girls fell 22-35 to the Panthers, while the boys were victorious with a 20-41 win.

FOCUS: Junior Ben Pease had a strong performance, placing 9th. Here he stares ahead, dialed in on the race and his competition.

To secure their win, the boys came in at 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The girls placed 1, 5, 8, 10, and 11.

TEAMWORK: Freshman Laurel Tolliver, left, and sophomore Johanna Evink, right, run side by side in the middle of the course. Both had strong races, Tolliver came in as number 18, Evink as 14.

"We ran really well as a team which is important," coach John Tarr said. "I think it was a good meet to get us ready for Saturday, we have to run a conference meet on a really fast, hard course."
