The Importance of Getting U.S. - México Relations Right
The first keynote, happening Wednesday, April 14 at 5:30 p.m., is the IBC Bank and Commerce Bank 2020-2021 Keynote Speaker Series presentation, “The Importance of Getting U.S.-México Relations Right,” featuring Ambassador Earl Anthony Wayne, Distinguished Diplomat in Residence at American University’s School of International Service. During the second keynote, Dr. Darrell M. West present his research topic, “Should You Be Worried about Artificial Intelligence.” He will discuss what artificial intelligence is, how it is being deployed, and its opportunities and risks. Electricity Market Design: Preparing for a High Renewable Resource Future
The final keynote, “Electricity Market Design: Preparing for a High Renewable Resource Future,” features Dr. David Brown, associate professor of Economics at the University of Alberta and Canada Research Chair in Energy Economics and Policy. His presentation will discuss ongoing debates over the design and regulation of wholesale electricity markets in a high renewable energy resource future. Dr. Brown will also discuss market reforms to energy-only markets, such as Texas’s electricity market. Dr. Peter Haruna, TAMIU professor of Public Administration and Government, will present “Experiencing Public Service as a Calling: How the COVID-19 Pandemic Turned Public Employees from Villains to Heroes and Victims” on Wednesday, April 14 at 6 p.m.
TAMIU's History Association Hosts Virtual Lecture Friday
Dr. Kimberly Gauderman of the University of New Mexico will speak about her experiences working with indigenous-language documents from Mexico and the Andes. The talk will take place on Friday, April 16 at 2:30 p.m. CST via Zoom. All TAMIU students are welcome to attend.
