Rector Field House is the home of the Virginia Tech track and field and cross country programs. The facility underwent an $18 million renovation in 2018 as part of a project that added a new throws area, a new track surface, new lighting, additional spectator seating, and an expanded sports medicine facility β all of which make the facility one of the best in the country for track and field.
STUDENT-ATHLETE PERFORMANCE CENTER
A $20 million Student-Athlete Performance Center, finished in 2020 and built on the top floor of the Jamerson Athletics Center, enables student-athletes grab snacks or meals, or to eat meals from a full-service kitchen. An expanded dining area overlooks the Steve Johnson Football Practice Fields and Lane Stadium.
W.A. & MAE STREET OLYMPIC SPORTS TRAINING CENTER
Virginia Tech's distance runners train in the 6,000-square foot Street Olympic Sports Training Center. The two-tiered facility includes a lower level dedicated to strength training and a unique 1,800-square foot mezzanine level dedicated to functional movement, which helps athletes prevent injuries.
