Dear University community,

  • Heads UP! I want to let you in on a change coming to TAMIU. Uconnect, our official communications portal, is transitioning. We’re going to “reload” Uconnect as a cloud-based, streamlined experience focused on easy access to TAMIU resources and systems. We’ll complete this transition by July 1, 2021. We’ll keep a steady stream of information coming to you over the next few weeks, so be on the lookout!
  • Funding applications for CRRSAA Grants for students will open the week of June 8 for Maymester, Sub-Term 1 and Summer Session. Find out more.
  • As most are now aware, Gov. Abbott’s Executive Order Executive Order No. GA-36 issued 5.18.21 provides that face coverings are no longer required on campus. We will continue to observe social distancing. Find out more from the COVID 19 Resource Center.
  • Free COVID-19 testing is available here on campus at our Curative kiosk located in the breezeway, Monday-Friday. It’s open to the community too.
  • Congrats to TAMIU's Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Committee and TAMIU-SBDC for their virtual offerings in celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month with a Virtual Business Diversity Panel and Friday’s timely Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month panel discussion Addressing Asian Bias and Hate: Lessons Learned.” This is a great affirmation of the diversity and inclusiveness of our campus.
  • Registration for Summer and Fall continues. Here’s more on our Fall Plans for a full and vibrant, on-campus experience.

Have a great week Dustdevils!

TAMIU Students Craft Children's Books, Donate to University's Lamar Bruni Vergara Literacy Partnership

“Significant research has demonstrated that early literacy is the best way to offer students lifelong academic success and to bridge achievement gaps between students. However, early literacy acquisition is subject to several social and cultural challenges. The TAMIU-LBV Literacy Partnership provides tutoring to address early achievement gaps by reading with students in weekly tutoring sessions. The books that the Multicultural Children’s Literature students create help to address other factors.”
