Get ready for a blast from the past as Utica High puts on a production of Disney's "Camp Rock."
Rehearsals started in January, and since then it's been non-stop for the cast and crew. With practice every day, the cast is always dancing or singing down in the auditorium.
"We've had more songs to sing and dance in," junior Delaney Hagerman said. Hagerman is in the Camp Rock chorus, and loves to go against the Camp Star characters in one of the songs. "I like 'It's On' because I love going against the other camp because it's really fun and it's a great way to play with your emotions."
Rehearsal is important for everyone, but especially for the main characters. These actors had to bring their characters to life, and had to work with the costuming department to give each character a personality.
Sophomore Morgan Nugent plays Caitlyn Geller, best friend to main character Mitchie Torres (played by Ashley Geis in this production). Nugent describes her character as "quirky" and "fun." "She cares more about her experiences than what others think," Nugent said.
It's not just dancing and singing, though. A huge part of the show is being pulled together by the technical members, who work behind the scenes. One such person is senior Julez Einkorn.
"I work with tech and the stage managers to make sure everything is running smooth," Einkorn said. She is the assistant director for this show, and though it's stressful, she says she "doesn't regret it."
Make sure you come see "Camp Rock" because this "Fire" cast will rock your socks off!
