THE JIM CROW FILIBUSTER IS BLOCKING POPULAR POLICIES THAT HAVE PASSED THE HOUSE. THIS INCLUDES:
The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act is a critical first step to ending police brutality and addressing systemic racism. It bans chokeholds, establishes a police misconduct registry, and reforms qualified immunity. The bill also ends the militarization of law enforcement and invests money into Black and brown communities to reimagine what policing should look like so everyone is safe.
At a moment in which America experiences nearly 40,000 gun deaths each year, the House has passed two landmark pieces of gun safety legislation to expand background checks on all gun purchases and to close the Charleston loophole, which carelessly restricts the period of time the FBI has to conduct a background check to three days — allowing many buyers to evade them.
The Paycheck Fairness Act is simple: equal pay for equal work. On average, Black women make 63 cents on the dollar a white man makes. For Native women, it’s 60 cents and for Latinas, it’s 55 cents. The Paycheck Fairness Act guarantees that women across the workforce are finally paid their fair share.
Washington, DC has a larger population than two states, and it’s 712,000+ residents pay a higher tax rate per capita than any other state in America — yet have no Federal representation. The Washington, DC Admission Act establishes DC as the 51st state and ensures the people who call it home finally have an equal voice.
it's time to end the filibuster and deliver for the people.
