BC Healthcare Virtual Job Fair November 26, 2020

On November 17th, 2020, Health Match BC hosted its first-ever BC Virtual Healthcare Job Fair, attracting thousands of registered attendees from around the globe.

Travel and event restrictions caused by COVID-19 have resulted in a reduction of attendance at traditional recruitment events, such as conferences and career fairs. Opportunities for in-person engagement and collaborative participation alongside our provincial health employers at these types of events had reduced or were completely cancelled. Adapting to these modern changes and by leveraging innovative online platforms, the Health Match BC program planned and launched it's own virtual career fair.

The event featured a collaborative offering of HEABC Recruitment Solution teams (including Health Match BC, Locums for Rural BC and the PRA-BC Practice Ready Assessment program) along with BC's Health Employer representatives- available to interact with candidates in the exhibit hall, lined up with individual booths that featured live one-on-one chat functionality to support visitors from various professions: specialist physicians, nurses and allied health professionals.

Attendees were able to populate their virtual briefcases with available info materials, such as video content and digital brochures. Dedicated booths provided candidates details about attractive benefits of living and working in the province of BC, helpful immigration and licensure pathway information, along with a full-day event program comprised of live Q&A webinar sessions scheduled in our virtual auditorium.

Health Match BC is proud of the overwhelming turnout and positive feedback received from the BC Virtual Healthcare Job Fair. We look forward to hosting more virtual events in the near future to further support recruitment and retention for healthcare workers across the province.
