Welcome Back, Waysiders!
Letter from the Superintendent - (Previously released on July 25, 2018)
Waysiders,
Welcome back! I am so pleased to kick off the 2018-2019 school year with such an amazing group of young minds. I truly believe that this will be our best school year to date, thanks in large part to YOU!
New Construction
We’ve had an especially busy summer at Wayside. Much of our staff worked throughout the break to ensure the new Bradshaw Campus was ready for our scholars’ return. After three years of work, we are excited to open the Bradshaw Campus to our scholars on the first day of school.
New construction and permitting are predictably unpredictable, and I appreciate the incredible patience and grace we’ve received from our entire Wayside community throughout the process. It’s certainly been a labor of love, and I am confident that the Bradshaw Campus will be somewhere you are proud to send your child each day. Anytime we open a new site we will have kinks to smooth out. As each day passes we will tighten up our routines and procedures. We thank you in advance for your understanding and support.
Unlocking Excellence in All Scholars
If you’ve been in the Wayside community, you’ve likely heard me say All Means All. This simply means that at Wayside, we are ALL scholars, ALL united, and ALL IB. We are all in this together, and we all have the potential to achieve great things.
Going forward, you’ll see me talk about the word "potential" much more. Your child is full of potential, and I truly believe that every Wayside scholar is capable of achieving excellence. As educators, our most basic function is to nurture their potential to ensure they are able to grow into the best possible version of themselves. We are educating future doctors, community leaders, lawyers, and entrepreneurs.
First Day Motivation
I would like to end on a note of motivation for our scholars: Dive in this year. Study hard, and remember that you have what it takes to earn a college degree. You are our future, and I know you are capable of changing the world.
I appreciate everyone who helps make Wayside Schools so special. Let’s all have a fantastic school year.
Together we prepare college-ready, community-engaged, global citizens.
