Activities Without Technology Spend some time away from the screen with these 12 activities

Reading a Book

Find a comfortable place to sit down with a good book. Set aside your academic reading for a little while and get absorbed in the world of a book that you have been meaning to read.

Playing Board Games

Gather your family or a few friends and play a board game together. Board games are a great way to share some laughter and draw yourself away from the screen. Or, get some fresh air and play an outdoor game, like bean bag toss.

Going on a Bike Ride

Take out your bike and go on a ride around the neighborhood or on a local trail. This is a nice way to leave technology behind, head outside, and get your heart rate up for a little while.

Assembling a Puzzle

Puzzling is a fun and stimulating activity, whether you are working with someone else or alone. Find one in your house or make an outing to shop for one.

Cooking or Baking

Spend some time in your kitchen and make a meal or a treat that you will enjoy. Tackle a new recipe or make your favorite food, then share it with your friends or family. (Though you will not be judged if you enjoy it by yourself!)

Planning a Picnic

Put together a picnic for yourself and your friends or family! Pack fun picnic foods, like sandwiches, fruits and vegetables, and head to the park. You could even bring along some outdoor activities for extra entertainment.

Going For a Walk

Head outside for a walk to get some exercise and enjoy nature. Whether you are heading to a walking path or walking your dog around the neighborhood, a walk is a wonderful opportunity to escape the screen and clear your mind.

Making a Craft

Get creative and work on a craft or art project! Let your imagination guide you; relax and enjoy the process. Find a medium to work with and just have fun.

Writing a Letter

Set aside the time to write a letter. It has become rather rare to receive a handwritten note, so delight your friends and family the next time they open the mailbox.

Learning a New Hobby

Take the time to learn a hobby that interests you. Find something that can become a frequent opportunity to step away from your computer screen. Engaging in a new hobby, or discovering a talent, can prove extremely rewarding.

Spending Time with Family

Leave your room and technology behind to spend some time with your family. Whether you are making conversation or bonding over an activity, enjoy each other’s company.

Volunteering

Spend your time helping others or working for a cause. Search for a place where you can volunteer or find a way to help out from home. Volunteering is an opportunity to both avoid technology and do something that makes a positive impact.
