Looking to bounce back after a loss to Penn State, Michigan treated fans to a homecoming victory that featured two 100-yard rushers and a new quarterback appearance.

The two oldest FBS football programs met in a homecoming match-up. U-M traces its homecoming to the 1897 Alumni game - when former players would play against the current varsity team.

TWO OVER 100 YARDS

  • Karan Higdon (18 rushes, 158 yards, 2 TDs) and Ty Isaac (14 rushes, 109 yards) each eclipsed the 100-yard rushing barrier, as Michigan accumulated a season-high 471 yards of total offense. Michigan's backs averaged 6.5 yards per rush.
  • Kareem Walker (6 rushes, 34 yards, 1 TD) and Chris Evans (5 rushes, 29 yards / 1 catch, 20 yards, 1 TD) rounded out the ground attack which compiled 334 yards.
Higdon added a 49-yard touchdown to his 158-yard performance.
Ty Issac had 109 yards on 14 carries.

  • The defense held Rutgers to 195 yards of total offense.
  • Devin Bush led the way with 11 tackles.
  • Maurice Hurst added 8 tackles.
  • Michigan totaled 11 tackles for loss including 5 sacks.

Quarterback Brandon Peters relieved John O'Korn in the second quarter, going 10-of-14 for 124 yards and a touchdown.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Behind a pair of 100-yard rushing performances from Karan Higdon and Ty Isaac, the University of Michigan football team bounced back with a 35-14 victory over Rutgers on Homecoming Saturday (Oct. 28) inside Michigan Stadium.
