Coker Cobras
The Coker College women's volleyball team will complete a three-game home stand when they take on Wingate at 7:00 p.m. on Monday (Oct. 22) and Lenoir-Rhyne at 7:00 pm on Tuesday (Oct. 23), in the DeLoach Center. Tickets for the matches are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
The Cobras finished with a 14-17 record last season. This year, they're off to an 11-11 start overall, with an 3-10 record in conference. Coker started the season 7-1, their best start in 20 years. Their 14 wins last season were the most for the program since 2007-2008, and they advanced to the quarterfinals of the South Atlantic Conference tournament for the first time in team history.
The Cobras feature an exciting mix of returners, along with five freshmen that have made an immediate impact on the team. Freshman Rami Mullen leads the team in assists (738), and ranks second in digs (268). She's recorded 16 double-doubles this season, and surpassed 50 or more assists twice.
Senior libero Kara Overholt is closing out her Coker career with an impressive final season for the Cobras. Overholt leads the team in digs (369), and has surpassed Tara Nelson (2003-2007) for third place all-time in career digs at Coker. She's just 193 digs away from second place.

Wingate vs Coker
Monday, October 22nd | 7:00 PM | DeLoach Center
Wingate finished 27-4 last season, and 18-2 in conference. The Bulldogs advanced all the way to the NCAA Southeast Regionals before falling to Flagler 3-0. This year, they're off to an even better start, posting an undefeated 21-0 record overall, and 14-0 record in conference.
The Bulldogs are the undisputed leaders of the South Atlantic Conference, and have only been forced to five sets twice so far this season. They lead in nearly several relevant team statistics, including hitting percentage (.239%), kills per set (14.45), assists per set (13.89), and rank near the top in most of the conference in most others.
Wingate was picked to finish first in the SAC Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll, garnering 10 of the 11 first place votes. The Bulldogs swept the Cobras 3-0 last week, behind an impressive effort from Phoeve Havenaar who notched 14 kills and four blocks in the victory.
Player to Watch
Havenaar is a 6-2 middle blocker for the Bulldogs. The senior has had a terrific career at Wingate, winning All-SAC second team honors last season, and she's well on track to a first-team nod this year. She ranks sixth in the conference in total blocks (65), fourth in kills per set (3.37), and is tied for second in hitting % (.335). Her dominance in the middle is a huge reason why the Bulldogs remain undefeated.

Lenoir-Rhyne vs. Coker
Tuesday, October 23rd | 7:00 PM | DeLoach Center
Lenoir-Rhyne finished 10-16 overall last season, including a 6-14 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. Coker eliminated the Bears from a chance at postseason play with a 3-1 victory in the regular season finale in Hartsville. This year, they're 16-7 overall and 10-6 in conference play.
The Bears rebuilt quickly after a disastrous season last year. Sophomore outside hitter Taylor Prall, freshman libero Ashley Hawkins, and freshman setter Helen Hamilton represent the core of a very bright future for Lenoir-Rhyne. Prall ranks eighth in the conference in kills per set (2.96), Hawkins ranks tenth in digs (392), while Hamilton is sixth in assists (657).
Lenoir-Rhyne was picked to finish eighth overall in the SAC Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll. They've shocked the league, and currently sit fourth in the standings. The Bears enter this match winners of three straight, and four of their last five.
Player to Watch
Arroyo, a senior transfer from St. Andrews University, has been a big reason why the Bears were able to change their fortunes so quickly. She currently ranks third in the conference in kills per set (3.45), and has notched a double-double in four straight matches. Her best performance of the season actually came in Lenoir-Rhyne's most recent match, when they beat Queens in five sets. Arroyo recorded season-highs in both kills (21) and digs (20) in the victory.
