The State Game CG VS Carmel

The Tailgate

Before the game, families and friends tailgate by their cars outside Lucas Oil Stadium. A large tailgate hosted by the football families was held in Gate Ten Events on the south side of the stadium.

The Dance

The Cheer

Chloe Walsh finishes off a cheer with her lift. The Varsity Cheerleaders performed at half time on the field.

The Band

Drew Harris plays percussion during the game. The band sat near the south end zone and played chants for the fans and the football players throughout the game.

The Community

The largest football crowd of the season consisted of members from all over the Center Grove community.

The Students

When a game has 6 turnovers and ends in overtime, emotions of the fans and friends of the team have their own ups and downs.

Excitement. Morgan Weaver, Griffin Smith and Caroline Wilkowski cheer as CG finishes the first half ahead 10-3
Pride. Jake Lindsay displays a Fathead of Logan Bontrager
Fear. Kevin Castellanos and Mackenzie Castellanos react to the Greyhound touchdown with 46 seconds left in the game. The Greyhound touchdown put the Trojans behind 13-10.
Hope. Madison Blythe, Josh Hall, and Jake Lindsay link arms as Luke Eckert lines up for the field goal. Eckert's kick was good, taking the game to overtime
Excitement. Lauren Slaughter and Paxton Welton take a crowd selfie as the players regrouped for overtime. CG won the toss and started on the 10-yard line.
Belief. As Russ Yeast pushed into the end zone, it looked to be a Trojan touchdown. Cameron Smith, Zach Wells, Jake Lindsay and Josh Hall realized moments later the ball was fumbled and recovered by Carmel.
Sadness. The face of Claire Contos echoes the rest of the stands as Trojan fans watch a State Championship victory slip away.
Respect. Fans applaud both teams for a well-fought battle. The Carmel Greyhounds were victorious 16-13.

The Game

The team runs off the field at half time. Trojans were up 10-3 at half time.
Russ Yeast avoids a tackle. Yeast and the other seniors' finished their last season strong with 12 wins and only two losses.
Cory Heinrichs, Mikala Gardner and Titus McCoy walk off the field together after a play. McCoy scored the only Trojan touchdown of the game.
Trent Line gets awarded a state-runner-up medal. The team lost to Carmel 13-16 in overtime.
Logan Bontrager gets awarded the Mental Attitude Award and a $1,000 scholarship.
