The upcoming 2020 FWC
The mandates
For the upcoming 2020 IUFA FWC, many nations were looking forward to renew their uniform look and Sports du Pacifique Sud has been contacted by many and was chosen by 3 nations participating in this year's edition.
The process
Meeting with the country's football governing body took place through the process where teams were able to follow the design work and give their input at every stage of the design from the original inspiration briefings to the actual production of the uniforms.
The nations
The three nations that chose SPS for their designs are located in all corners of the South Pacific which made a challenge to coordinate our design process, with so many people out of the country at a time. There was a project lead for every nation so that each design could have a different look, still with the SPS trademark which is the reason they chose our company. The nations that chose our company are: Anserisa, Kosbareland and Mauquibie.
The Republic of Anserisa
The jewel of the Rainbow Islands
For their first participation in the FWC, Anserisa wanted a bold yet classical look so they could be remembered on and off the field.
Anserisan Football Federation
- Native name: Federation do Pespila Anserisana
- Founded: 1957
- Headquarters: Geneva, Anserisa
- Main stadium: Auréliano-Régulum Nationa Stadium
Bold in black
For the Anserisan second kit we go with a bold look that replicates the origins of Anserisa with the diagonal red strip on the shirts. The stripe concept is repeated on the socks to create a bold look on the field.
The Emblem of Anserisa is featured in the place of honour in the centre of the shirt.
The shorts simply feature the distinctive Flag of Anserisa which is clearly visible on the black shorts.
The Federal Union of Kosbareland
The nation with a troubled past
Kosbareland has participated in previous football competitions and wanted a look that sets them apart and that could rally the nation around the national symbols.
Kosbaran Football Board
- Native name: Kosbaraanse Sokkerraad
- Founded: 1910
- Headquarters: Kaapstad
- Main stadium: Pieter Van der Merwe Stadium
Rally around the flag
The Kosbaran's first kit is designed around the Flag of Kosbareland a symbol that has stood the test of time and is rallying a nation that is still healing its wounds.
The flag pattern is repeated on the socks and on the shorts, where the Emblem of Kosbareland is also located.
The Heraldic Ship of Pieter Van der Merwe is proudly located in the centre of the shirt and has been recognized as a symbol of Kosbareland for centuries.
The Grand Duchy of Mauquibie
Royal nation still led by the nobility
Mauquibie is a small state with a rich monarchial history of which the citizens are really proud. We had to come up with a design that was paying tribute to that heritage while still making it modern.
Mauquibian Football Association
- Native name: Association de Football de Mauquibie
- Founded: 1996
- Headquarters: Philippesville
- Main stadium: National Stadium of Mauquibie
Blue angels
Just like the angels on the Coat of Arms of Mauquibie, the team is bearing a completely blue shirt with the Fleur de Lys in the centre.
The rest of the uniform is also solid blue to give the team a regal and distinct look on the field. The lesser version of the Coat of Arms of Mauquibie is featured on the shorts.
Regal white
Another classical look that is setting the team apart from the other competitors, the white kit is only traversed by a blue stripe to highlight the Fleur de Lys.
The socks are imprinted with a motif that repeats the Fleur de Lys to give a more royal look to the team while the shorts present some small blue stripes which goes along with the presence of the Flag of Mauquibie.
