Our Future Growth Plan is moving forward as we develop plans for Fortville Elementary to become an intermediate school again in 2024-2025. We are adding on to the existing Fortville Elementary earlier than planned as our expansion for the intermediate school is needed now. We moved that addition to the front of the line because Fortville Elementary is already at capacity. In addition to building a new elementary school (also scheduled to open in 2024-2025), we are moving forward with our plans to make significant improvements to our main campus traffic flow and parking availability. Replacing our bus facility will help us to keep our busses in tip-top condition and secure; it will also help free up space that the middle school will need for traffic and parking.
All of this construction will be funded without increasing the debt service tax rate. Our growth in student enrollment, coupled with the growth in our community, provides for healthy Education and Debt Service Funds. We have made plans to push off our Operations Fund cliff as far out as we can; we lose a significant source of Operations Fund revenue with the expiration of our 10-year increment provided by special legislation in 2012. Please stay tuned for more information related to our future-focused plans!
