Focused on member savings
The PSC Recognizes CGEMC as the Lowest-Cost Energy Provider in the State!
.
We are proud to announce that Central Georgia EMC (CGEMC) is the lowest-cost electric provider in the state at the 2,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) level.
The Public Service Commission's 2021 Winter Residential Survey ranks all 94 electric providers in Georgia. At the 2,000 kWh level, the average electric consumer in Georgia pays $223.36 per month. CGEMC consumers paid $168.26. That is $55.10 below the state average! At the 1,500 kWh level, CGEMC members saved $34.64 per month when compared to the state average.
The challenges of 2020 may have changed our work procedures, but they did not change our commitment to our members. Delivering reliable service at the lowest practicable cost is the way we do business.
congratulations!
CGEMC said a bittersweet farewell to two of our long-time employees. Mike Long retired following thirty-four years of service. Todd McCarty celebrated twenty-three years of service. We will miss them and wish them much happiness!
Unclaimed Capital credit checks
CGEMC is a not-for-profit organization. This means any excess revenue, after covering operating costs, is returned to our customer-owners in the form of a capital credit check (based on each customer-owner’s energy use).
In December 2020, CGEMC issued capital credit refund checks. However, some of the refund checks issued were returned by the U.S. Postal Service as “undeliverable.” A list of the names of these customer-owners can be found by visiting our website, www.cgemc.com, or by viewing the list at our corporate office, located at 923 S. Mulberry St., Jackson, GA 30233.
If you know the correct address of these individuals or have any helpful information, please contact our office or notify the customer-owner to contact us as soon as possible by calling 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877.
Unclaimed property
Visit our website for the list of unclaimed property from outstanding credit balances with CGEMC as of June 30, 2016. If you know any of these people listed or their heirs, please have them contact our office during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877. Unclaimed property will be sent to the state of Georgia.
Our biomass and solar programs are now green-e certified
CGEMC is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and working toward a greener future. With our partner in clean energy, Green Power EMC, we offer two environmentally friendly, renewable energy options.
Our Cooperative Solar program harnesses the power of the sun without the hassles of panel ownership. For $19 per month, you can add a 1 kW block of solar production to your energy portfolio. No contracts. No hidden fees. No equipment to maintain.
Bring more green into your power mix with biomass. Biomass creates energy from waste and removes dangerous methane gas from the environment during the process. CGEMC offers 150 kWh blocks of biomass energy for only $4.50 per month.
Our clean energy programs are Green-e Energy Certified by the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS). Green-e Energy certification and verification of a renewable energy program is essential so that you can be confident the renewable energy you purchase meets the highest standards.
Lineworker appreciation
In February, CGEMC sent 12 crew members to Kentucky to assist Grayson Rural ECC in restoring power after an ice storm.
Our crew faced harsh winter weather, 16-hour days, and times where food and hot water were in short supply. As the weather turned warmer, the mountains' runoff created rivers and mud where there were once roads. The crew did not stop until power was restored.
Each April, we take time to intentionally celebrate our lineworkers. They never hesitate to lend aid to those in need. They are willing to sacrifice time with their families to help others. Dedication to excellence and sense of service to the community is truly what sets our lineworkers apart.
PaySite Kiosk - Open 24/7
Our PaySite kiosk is open 24/7 to fit your busy schedule. The kiosk accepts cash, check, or credit card and there is no fee for using this service. Payments post immediately to your account.
The kiosk is located in the front lobby of our main office at 923 S. Mulberry Street in Jackson. The kiosk lobby is well-lit and monitored. Please remember to bring your account number for access.
our Solar portfolio is growing!
Celebrate Earth Day with Cooperative Solar!
CGEMC is among 32 electric cooperatives in Georgia that now collectively share in power production from a new 200-megawatt (MWAC) solar portfolio that includes three utility-scale projects in South Georgia.
The total capacity of the three sites will collectively provide enough low-cost, renewable energy to serve more than 35,000 EMC households! As a clean energy source, its environmental offset is equivalent to more than 350,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.
We’re proud to participate in this innovative renewable energy project that helps us offer both clean and affordable power,” said CGEMC President/CEO George L. Weaver. “Solar power has become a vital part of our diversified energy portfolio used to serve our members as efficiently and economically as possible.”
Call 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877 to learn more about adding solar energy to your monthly energy mix.
