Artist Statement
Have you walked recently around the streets of Brickell?, urban living redefined. Business, commerce and residence all melting in a pot of beautifully designed buildings and landscapes. My inspiration in creating the light art shows for SLS Lux Brickell unfolds from the intention to evoke a grater sense of connectivity to Miami's urban life, ourselves and each other. Creating a sense of community by connecting to its vibrant environment will provide in the years to come a unique vibe for the Miami urban Life.
“As a lighting artist, it is always the light that I remember most about any location. It is my inspiration. Its elusive quality can transform a building or a landscape in just a matter of seconds. I strive to convey that sense of place by capturing its fleeting magic.”
In my quest to create this magic, the art light shows are musically inspired. The physics and psychology of color affects our life in many ways. Colors can be linked to our moods or emotions, states of mind and even to our physical health. The intention is to bring to the city and its people the play of “dancing” light in order to inspire connection to each other, the building and urban living.
The art light shows are programed using a sound synchronization software that allows the selection of a theme inspired playlist exclusively chosen to create the magical allure wanted, each season has its own playlist and there is one for special occasions and time of the year (see playlist).
Architecturally the aim is to provide a high impact, dynamic and innovative lighting art installation that highlights and brings up the importance of the building. The art light show seeks to bring forward the spirit and architecture of the building, taking into account the location and surrounding environment, highlighting the Notches on each floor that create the unique design on the building's Façade.
The final effect is a building that comes alive at night, projecting the artists expression inspired from visual metaphors of local urban life infused with movement, elegance and sophistication
