Athlete of the Week Ryan Thomas

Expectations: “I had a lot of high expectations," Thomas said. "[Our luck was] very unfortunate with injuries and illnesses. But as of now, we are all back and healthy and we are playing at a high level that we knew we could play at. My job as a teammate is to get everyone better and lead them.”

What He Likes Most About Basketball: “I like playing with my friends and my teammates and getting to know everyone. Its a great sport and I like competing at a high level.

Best Basketball Memory: "When we sealed our bid into the state tournament against Dwight Morrow – the best team in our league," Thomas said. "We beat them at home after losing to them away and twice last year to clinch the state tournament.”

Proudest Moment on the Court: “All the way back in third grade playing in a championship game for my Saint John's CYO league. We hit a game-winning buzzer-beater at the last second to win it all," Thomas said.

Funniest Moment: “This year when Coleman finally did one of the drills with us," Thomas said. "He put a really nice move on [Jake] Wolf and made him look silly as a defender.”

Best Thing About PV: “It is so open and you can talk to whoever you want and get to know anyone," Thomas said. "You can join any clubs you want and take the classes you want to. All teachers are willing to talk to you. It is a very open school.”

What He Does In His Free Time: “I like to exercise a lot and go out for runs and hang out with friends,” Thomas said.

One Thing People May Not Know: “I am really good with a knife at the meat market where I work," Thomas said.

Role Models: His brother and his grandfather.

Future Plans: He doesn’t see himself playing basketball in college but he will most likely play intramurals or club.
