2020 Scholarship Celebration UNT College of Visual Arts and Design

"Welcome to the 2020 College of Visual Arts and Design Scholarship Celebration. Due to the essential restrictions in place to help curtail the COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot gather this year for our Scholarship Celebration. This is disheartening because the event is always a tremendous reminder of the amazing support shown to our students by so many generous friends of the college. It is always a special time to honor a number of our talented students who are shaping the future of curiosity and creativity and I know that our donors will miss the engaging conversations with their recipients. Within this piece we hope we have captured some of our students’ gratitude and can, to some extent, communicate how much impact a scholarship can bring. To our scholarship recipients, while we are unable to be together in person this year, I want to share with each of you that the whole CVAD community is proud of you and your boundless accomplishments. The hard work and determination of our faculty and staff in support of you during these challenging times deserves credit, too, and I am certain that you will join me in acknowledging this appreciation as and when you can. This year, 2020, the generosity of our donors allows us to make awards totaling over $245,500. These scholarships help to ensure a sound financial path for students, encouraging them to focus on their continued learning and research. I extend my thanks to all of our donors for your consistent support of the College of Visual Arts and Design here at the University of North Texas. You are vital to our mission as we prepare students for their careers; we are all so very grateful that you are helping them achieve their dreams. Congratulations students and thank you donors!" — Dean Greg Watts

"We have a lot to reflect on and be thankful for this year. From successfully navigating a new way to educate in art and design, to receiving an outpouring of support from our alumni and friends, we are thankful for the generosity that we received. Despite this generosity, however, our students and programs are still calling on you for help. Your investment in CVAD will make an ongoing and life-changing difference for those in need. From providing textbooks to a freshman, to allowing a graduating senior to purchase exhibition materials, your gift matters. When you consider us in your year-end giving, you are considering the direct impact you will have on more than 2,200 students, from future art educators to the next chief creative officer. Each dollar raised is one step closer to another hard-earned degree and future success." — Dean Greg Watts
