This past Columbus Day Weekend, the Westport Library held its periodic book sale. The sale offered over 40 different collections of books, ephemera, art and media. Not only was admission free for customers, but anyone could sign up to volunteer.
Media and music items, such as CDs, DVDs, vinyl record players and sheet music were popular items featured at the sale. While the main star of the event was books, the Westport Library book sale offered other items that reached a wider audience.
The book sale wouldn't have been a success without all of its volunteers, composed mainly of local residents and teens volunteering through various non-profit organizations. Volunteers worked all throughout the book sale area as customers viewed the tables of books. Some jobs included sorting and "fluffing" the displays, tallying the price totals of people's selected items, checking out customers and greeting and giving directions.
