Outdoor Education takes on Action Wake Park By Grant Engelsman

Recently, Mr. Warner's Outdoor Education class took a trip to the Action Wake Park in Hudsonville. By 10:30 Am, every student was in a wet suit, with a helmet on their head and some sort of board by their side. The Action Wake Park gives people the opportunity to try numerous amounts of different water sports including wakeboarding, water skiing, kneeboarding, barefooting and skate surfing.

Above, senior Braden Neilsen walks back to the starting dock smiling and laughing after falling at the beginning of his run.
Above, senior Joey Fischer slides off the starting dock before failing to start successful run.

The Outdoor Ed. class went to the wake park twice in two weeks. The first visit was a warm-up run, just to get used to the difference of being pulled by a cable rather than a boat. Then the next week, they were picking up the speed hitting jumps and shredding it up.

Above, senior Ethan Jhamb hits a jump, rotates 180 degrees and sticks the landing in one of his last but definitely most impressive runs of the day.

"It was really fun I had a good time. I mean, all around good time" senior Ethan Jhamb said. Jhamb most definitely was not the only one to have an enjoyable time at the wake park. "People get to try new things in outdoor ed that they don't usually get to. There's just a different aspect to it because there's so many different things. Its not just physical conditioning but it's also extremely fun."

Warner's outdoor education class is always up to something interesting. Whether it's shooting colts at the gun club or surfing in Lake Michigan they are most definitely up for some sort of an adventure.
