Principal's Message

After my epic Update this week my endeavour is to keep this short – let us see how I get on.

Traffic Lights and Passes

I have just been reading the latest Ministry update from the Secretary of Education that we have and will operate in schools under the alert level requirements until January 1 2022, and then move to the new COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic lights framework).

Vaccine Passes have become our next required ID, and my phone has yet another piece of data in its memory.

Kete of Knowledge

We need to recall the achievements of the school year. We are in December, and we have all our weeks of learnings to look back at and draw on when needed. Everything I have done- good and bad- has its place in my kete of knowledge.

Thanks to our community

Parents, Volunteers, Friends, Old Girls, Boards, Businesses, Foundations, Staff, Students, and so many more have all had a part to play in the operation of this plant. We are so incredibly fortunate to have so many to help us, so my sincere thanks.

Service to the Community and Wellness

These are two big drivers for us now and ahead. This last week of school has seen every student engaged in a community project and it has filled my heart to see what they have produced for others.

In my Prizegiving speech I said “Service to others is vital. As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others”. Never was that truer than this week, and this is the foundation of who we are. When you help others, you do so much for your own wellbeing.

As staff and students drift into the summer break, as I said to the students moments ago, stay safe, take your values with you and make good choices. Enjoy the break and we will see you next year.

Community Service Projects

We have had a great end to the school year with a week of community service projects. These are the projects the girls have been involved in:

Little Bundles - bundles of clothing and linen for people in need, and for sustainability

Masterton Hospital Paediatric Unit - bassinette quilts

Riding for the Disabled - art work for their arena

SPCA - making dog toys

Women's Refuge - children's gift packs

Oxford Community Garden - potted plants plus recipes

Food Bank - biscuit gift packs

St Matthew's Parish Garden - bringing this back to life a garden!

A very sincere thanks to the girls for their efforts and enthusiasm over the week, and for the completion of some amazing work.

First XI Cricket

Yesterday our First XI cricket team were presented with their award from the Wairarapa Times Age Sports Awards – Winner of the Stirling Sports Masterton Youth Sports Team of the Year. It was also a chance to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of the Year 13 girls who are leaving the team and school, Ocean Bartlett, Olivia Clark and Cecilia Beck.

Year 10 Fashion

The girls in Year 10 have been making formal dresses for the intended Ballroom Dancing Social. Sadly, this did not come to pass. Therefore, yesterday afternoon Mrs Bucknell hosted a 'Mocktail' event for the girls in the dining room. There were also a keen number of staff to help and enjoy this event. The girls were treated to mocktails (see menu below), their dresses were introduced on a runway, and they played games.

Lip Sync House Competition

On Thursday afternoon the junior school enjoyed a lip sync competition. We had appearances from KISS, The Beatles, Spice Girls, Dolly Parton and more. Thanks to Miss Richardson for her talented presentation of the afternoon. Also, thank you to the Year 11 Boarders who made a quest appearance after their English exam with a rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Stationery 2022

A list of stationery for 2022 will be available on the website in the next couple of weeks. It will be under the 'parent' tab, and is a link to Paper Plus. The Senior College list is there already under a separate link from this page.

Message from the Uniform Shop

The Uniform Shop is now closed for the holidays.

If you have 2nd hand uniform that you’d like to bring in over the holidays, a time can be arranged by emailing Juliet: smcsuniforms@trinityschools.nz

The Uniform Shop will reopen at the end of January (the last week of the school holidays) 10am – 3pm, Tuesday 25th January, Wednesday 26th, Thursday 27th and Friday 28th January. The shop will also be open for returning boarders on Sunday 30th January 2pm – 5pm

School Office - Holidays

The school office will be closed from December 14. and will reopen on Wednesday January 19.

Community News

Vacancy – TSTB Payroll Administrator (part-time)

Trinity Schools Trust Board (TSTB) is looking for an energetic, organised and team focused Payroll Administrator to join us, to assist with the smooth running of the centralised payroll function for our Trinity Schools.

Key responsibilities include:

• Sourcing accurate and complete payroll information.

• Updating and checking the fortnightly Ministry of Education’ payroll system (EdPay) for all Trinity Schools.

• Input, processing and checking the fortnightly Ace payroll for all non-EdPay staff across our Trinity Schools.

• Drafting employee contracts for new non-teaching staff.

The successful candidate must have:

• Payroll experience

• Sound written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to prioritise and multitask

• A good level of computer literacy

• A team and independent approach

• A calm, friendly approach

This part-time role is based at Hadlow Preparatory School.
