Growth Mindset
  • Students, we are embarking on the last few days of the marking period. Are you caught up with your assignments? Are you asking for help? Are you challenging yourself?
  • We are extremely proud of all of our students and hope to see their continued growth throughout the remainder of this school year.

Grading Day and Parent-Teacher Conference:

  • November 1st: No School due to Grading Day
  • Save the Date: Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 22nd and 23rd.
District Choice: October 26th
  • Our Virtual School Choice Night is scheduled for December 1, 2021. More information forthcoming.
  • Families will be able to tour our building in small groups. Please email us at elizabeth.inman@redclay.k12.de.us
  • Current 8th Grade Students please read the attached Choice Admission Process to Cab Calloway School of the Arts for High School.
  • A formal letter will be sent to 8th Grade Parents regarding the update.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
  • On Wednesday, October 27th, dress up in anything pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
  • Members of 'The Benson Project' will be coming around with cameras (polaroids, disposables, phones) to take photos & post them on Instagram and on our bulletin board.
  • Make sure you check out our bulletin board (old mushroom house board)!

MLK-Voice 4 Youth

  • Guided by Dr. King’s legacy, MLK VOICE 4 YOUTH provides high school students a platform to creatively share their views on issues important to them.

Community Expectations

Friendly Student and Community Reminders:

  1. Students must have a pass from teachers when going to an assigned area in the building.
  2. Vending Machines are available in the morning, during lunch, or after school. Not during class or activities.
  3. Bus Riding is a privilege. Vandalism is a violation of the Code of Conduct. Be Responsible.
  4. Upon arrival, students are still required to report to the cafeteria if they are in Middle School, the gym if they are a Freshmen or Sophomore, and the auditorium if they are Juniors or Seniors.
  5. Senior Privilege: Seniors are still required to sign out in the front office.
  6. We are encouraging students to arrive on time to class.
  7. Safety First: We are reinforcing and encouraging drivers to discontinue making U- Turns in the middle of two way traffic. Thank you all for your cooperation.

Cab Calloway Excellence
Senior Class of 2022 during CAW
  • Shout out to Mrs. Rigby and Mr. Townsend for their planning and support of our Seniors during College Application Week.
Marching Band
  • Shout out to the Cab Calloway School of the Arts Marching Band.
  • They participated in the Wilmington Delaware 100th Anniversary Parade this past week.
  • The Marching Band has committed hours of practice, dedication in their support of the Football Team, and competitions through this Fall.
  • In reflection as the Dean, I commend the Marching Band members for your endless commitment and will support more opportunities for you to showcase your talent.

High School and Middle School Strings Concert

  • We are excited to have our String Concerts (1st one in 22 1/2 months!!! since Dec. 2019) is Thursday evening October 28th at 6:30 PM for middle school and 7:15 PM for high school strings.
  • We celebrate Bonnie Ayer’s for her commitment to our students and Strings Department. Come join us this Thursday.
  • Please note that our Football Game has been rescheduled for this Thursday which will impact parking.
  • We are two weeks away from Showtstoppers and we want to ensure all of our community members are informed.

Force Volleyball Team Senior Night
  • We had an amazing Spirit Week that was capped off by a high impact, creative, and fun Pep Rally/Homecoming Party.
  • Students were provided friendly reminders to mask throughout the pep rally homecoming event.

Community Mindfulness Session

  • In an effort to support our staff and community mental and emotional well being, there will be mindfulness sessions offered.
  • Mindfulness Sessions will be offered to interested community members, beginning in the month of November.
