Uploading Artifacts to your Portfolio

Best Practices

  • Make sure you hit save each time you upload an artifact, enter in information or exit from each competency. Save is your best friend.
  • TK20 works best while using Google Chrome or Fire Fox.
  • Do not use the navigation tools in your browser I.E. the back button. You may lose data you have entered.
  • If you have any questions, please ask early and often.

FAQ's

- What types of files can I upload into my portfolio?

TK20 portfolios will support the majority of files. Pictures, Word, Excel, PPT, and videos are all accepted.

- When is my portfolio due?

Portfolios are due at the end of each PD semester. PD 1 they are due in PED 3305. PD 2 they are due in PED 3311 and the final portfolio is due in PD 3 SOSE 4303. Check your course syllabus for exact due dates.

What artifacts need to be put in my portfolio?

There is a guide sheet on the cover page in your portfolio. In addition it can be accessed through the button below.

Which artifacts do I attach to which competencies?

It is up to the students to determine the best competency for the artifacts. You will provide a detailed rationale as to why you feel your artifact fits with the chosen competency.

If I still have questions after talking with my professor, who do I need to contact?

For questions regarding TK20, please contact Richard Simonds, MSW at 713.221.5711 or simondsr@uhd.edu. For questions regarding portfolio content, please contact Dr. Matt Fugate at 713.221.8165 or fugatec@uhd.edu.

What are the characteristics of an exemplar portfolio:

  • In the Description box, include the name of the artifact and the course it comes from.
  • Your interpretation and reflection needs to express your understanding of the competency in your own words as well as why it is important for teachers to know and practice. Do not simply summarize the competency.
  • Your artifact rationale needs to explain the connection between the competency and the artifact selected.

It is not enough to simply say "this artifact fits competency 1", you need to provide an explain why it fits.

Recalling your Portfolio

If you accidentally submit your Portfolio, you can recall it at any time in order to upload additional artifacts.

Remember to save, but not submit until the end of PD 3
