What's next for sport at ISB during virtual learning? By: Leon Wu, Sport repoter

Who misses sports at ISB, who missed close contact sports like soccer, basketball, and rugby with shoulder-to-shoulder huddles and colliding bodies. Who missed the time we practiced hard together to get better every minute and every second. We all miss playing sports in ISB, unfortunately, because of coronavirus, the school continues with virtual.

Coronavirus concerns meant the school year at ISB was beginning entirely remote, so the sports at ISB had moved to Zoom. Because so many things have happened, we want to know what’s next for sport at ISB? So we interviewed Chris Mott (ISB Athletic Director).

Chris Mott: For this year we have set up the season in a different manner. The first two weeks of the season we ran a pre-season and this has been followed by a regular-season one sports. Our focus has been on team building, personal skill development, and personal fitness.

Chris Mott: We will have a focus on team building, personal skill, and fitness. Coaches are using zoom, pre-recorded skills, homecourt app, and student athletic logs to track each student attending. While we cannot run our normal sessions we will look to challenge athletes and give them opportunities to connect with students who also have a passion for the sport.

Chris Mott: We are working on Spirit Week and Spirit Night. The Athletics Council will be involved in the Spirit Week planning and I know that they are going to have a great program for us all.

Chris Mott: We hope we can return to normal as soon as possible.

As of the current situation, we hope we can go back to school, Chris Mott and the athletic team are working hard to prepare the season for us. Right now school provides us pre-season sport on zoom, focusing on team building, personal skill development and, personal fitness. We encourage students who passion about the sport to join the program. Also, we are working on spirit night, so stay tuned to that. After all, we hope Coronavirus going to get better and return to normal athletic programs.
