Visiting Lion from India Addresses South Forks Lions
Dr. NANDAMUDI VENKATA SUBBARAO- He received his Medical graduation in 1981 from Guntur Medical College, Guntur-India. He also has a Graduate Diploma in Diabetes care from New Castle University of Australia. Diabetes care is his main work. He is married to Bhavani. They have two children. Their son and daughter-in -law are both doctors of Homeopathy- a complimentary medical system in India.
His daughter Sri Himaja has completed her PH.D in Speech Science from Bowling Green State University at Ohio State. She is currently working as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of North Dakota.
Dr. Subbarao likes to travel to different countries and observe different cultures. He has went to Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, also have seen Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C, Nashville in TN, Columbus. Ohio and New Jersey etc. Grand Forks is nice coool place says Dr. Subbarao!!

The Grand Forks Lions clubs are happy to bring you the annual Lions Fun Night. This event is an evening of fun and food. Door prizes, drawings and a silent auction make this one of the main fundraising events for local Lions Clubs. Tickets can be purchased from any Lions member. Haga Addresses Lions
Pete Hage, Community/Gov't Relations Officer for the City of Grand Forks spoke recently at the weekly South Forks Lions meeting. He addressed many issues including a recent trip to Washington D.C. with Mayor Brown with the main issues discussed being Agriculture, Grand Forks Air Force Base, UAS—Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Energy. Haga indicated that the administration has been providing good opportunity for cities to have access to federal department officials. For more information on the city of Grand Forks—click here. Tupa Updates Lions on Circle of Friends Humane Society
Lauralee Tupa, Executive Director of the Circle of Friends Humane Society (COFHS) recently shared an update with the SFLIONS. Ms. Tupa said the COFHS has been in existence for 45 years and at the current location since 2001. She indicated that they are very busy and the shelter has the philosophy of “never euthanize for space,” and they also will not euthanize because of ring worm, like many facilities do. They also work to save an animals that are 1 day old and without a mother. This is primarily accomplished by bottle feeding the babies every 2 hours. She said they rely on volunteers to make this happen. Lauralee talked about leash laws and the significant amount of stray cats in Grand Forks. She discussed the importance of spay and neutering. Grand Forks County Emergency Management Manager Discusses CERT Program with Lions
Kari Goelz, Director of Grand Forks County Emergency Management discussed the new CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training that will be taking place on Thursday, October 4. Lion Diane presented the Lions with information regarding a Lions grant that could partner with the CERT program. For more information on the Lions grant please speak to Lion Diane. Lions Hear from Sacred Heart Principal
Carl Adolphson, principal at Sacred Heart High School in East Grand Forks, visited with the South Forks Lions at a recent Tuesday morning meeting. Adolphson is a graduate of Argyle (Minn.) High School and holds a bachelor's degree in education and natural science from UND. He earned his master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. Dietrich Bus Manager Neal Discusses Busing in Grand Forks
John Neal, Manager of Dietrich Bus in Grand Forks recently discussed busing of students in Grand Forks. Neal became manager in 2013 and oversees 50 full-time and part-time employees. He said that 38 buses cover approximately 2000 miles a day. Dietrich has offices in Valley City, Jamestown, Aberdeen, SD, DesMoines, IA and Grand Forks.
