Starbucks’ Great Pumpkin Frappuccino

by Mackenzie Quinn

It is obviously fall when Starbucks releases their line of pumpkin spice drink orders. The “Great Pumpkin” frappuccino has been on Starbucks’ secret menu in previous years; however, this year it is being advertised at certain stores, like Target Westview. The drink is named after the famous fall film, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” and some stores use the cartoon as a part of the display board.

Simply put, the drink is made with vanilla bean and pumpkin and is topped with green, matcha whipped cream. With taste alone, it’s like being in the middle of a pumpkin patch on a brisk autumn afternoon. It is not overly sweet like some other frappuccinos; the matcha contrasts the rest of the drink while still remaining fall-flavored at heart because the second most popular seasonal drink is teas like matcha.

A grande, which is a 16 oz cup, “Great Pumpkin” costs $6.42 and is only offered for a limited time. Starbucks’ other pumpkin-flavored drinks include the pumpkin spiced latte (iced and hot), the pumpkin spice frappuccino and the pumpkin cream cold brew. Besides those, the company also offers other seasonal drinks like a salted caramel mocha and salted caramel mocha frappuccino.
