For a young, upstart regional culture and travel website, we've enjoyed a fair amount of success during our first full calendar year. But even we can tell there are some TheTexasWildflower.com stories that stand out from the pack, at least in the minds of our readers.

From Hill Country wines and shopping to Santa’s glorious parade float, San Saba’s annual 2018 Christmas Extravaganza was worth the trip in December.

It sounded like something from a movie plot: five women coming together in a former church building to launch a new business in early 2018. Except, of course, this wasn’t a story on the silver screen. It was real life, in Boerne, at The Sanctuary for the Vintage Soul.

Also in the spring, we shared the story of Pamela Humphrey, a Texas Hill Country mom who stumbled upon a mid-life career as an indie romance writer.

Once summer faded into fall, we were delighted to share the story behind Aunt M's Illustrated Inn, a remarkable bed-and-breakfast in a historic San Saba home.

This may have come as something of a surprise to city folks, but rural Johnson City (population: 2,003) is home now to several resident artists, eight independent art galleries, and a snazzy monthly art walk. We gave everyone a look at this smokin' hot art town in June.
