Dear Parents,
Welcome back! In the virtual sense!! We commence Term 4 pretty much how we completed Term 3, only this time we have a roadmap that sees all of our students back on site on November 5. I commend and thank our school community for the respectful way that we have all tried to cooperatively manage remote learning to the best of our ability throughout the last six weeks of Term 3, and as we move through the first five weeks of Term 4. As you will be aware, there is a staggered return to on site learning commencing from the start of week 3 – that is October 18, as follows:-
Return to school plan – Metropolitan Melbourne/Restricted Areas
Each week will be a bit of a logistical exercise managing staffing, sifting through requests for onsite supervision, ensuring those grade levels that are permitted on site know the precise days, monitoring gates and so on, but with everyone’s cooperation we have proven we can manage this and we will continue to do so!!
For NEXT week, the week commencing October 11, learning remains remote for all students EXCEPT those who have applied for onsite supervision through the normal application processes. The application form for families who have been approved to attend in the past will be emailed directly today – if anyone else believes their circumstances have changed and they may need their children supervised onsite, please contact the General Office on 9459-1512, or email me.
STAFFING Welcome back to Nicole Baillargeon who is replacing Lisa May for Term 4 whilst Lisa takes LSL. You will remember we farewelled Karen Butler at the end of Term 3, with the assumption that Patrick Walsh was to return to us after a successful stint as Acting Principal of Research Primary School. However, due to an unexpected event, the Principal has had to delay her return to Research PS by 6-9 weeks and Patrick has been asked to stay on. Whilst we would love Patrick back with us, we have agreed to ‘release’ him to Research for his own career development, and look forward to his return later in the term.
BUILDING PROJECT Gill and I have met regularly with Kneeler Designs and the Victorian Schools Building Authority over the last few months to develop a school master plan which is rapidly taking shape. It will be presented to School Council for discussion on October 11 as a matter of process, with feedback and thoughts guiding further development and refinement. When I am in a position to share with the school community, I most certainly will.
INTENTIONS TO LEAVE Term 4 is always dominated with planning for the following year – grade and staff selection, budgets, enrolments and more. In the first instance, it would be extremely helpful to us that if any family intending to leave our school community in 2022 because of relocation or other reason, advises us as soon as possible. A phone call to the office, or an email to the school or my email account asap would be most appreciated.
ENROLMENTS And on the same ‘numbers’ theme, whilst we think we have nearly all of our current family enrolments for 2022, if there is anyone out there who hasn’t completed the enrolment process yet, please do so asap.
Well, lots to digest there! I hope everyone has a good weekend. Heartiest congratulations to supporters of (and one of the players from !) the Melbourne Football Club on a well earned premiership victory. Better get the cricket gear out!!
Kind regards,
Bill Kersing
Principal
Welcome back to Term 4. I hope you were able to relax and enjoy the holiday break. Term 4 is always busy and we are certainly looking forward to welcoming back our staff and students onsite in the coming weeks. With the staggered return there will be many changes to routines and organisation so please read the Newsletter and Compass for updates.
