South Forks Lions Picnic Scheduled for Tuesday, September 24.

The South Forks Lions club will be gathering for fun and fellowship at Lincoln Park. Members are reminded to bring lawn chairs, beverages of choice and a desert. In addition, any lawn games you may have will add to the fun festivities of the evening. We look forward to seeing all Lion members and their spouses and/or significant others on the 24th.

How did Lions Clubs get the name Lions?

Perhaps it is not surprising that Lions founder, Melvin Jones was responsible for the name. Mr. Jones explored possible names and was struck by the name Lions because of how it represented strength, courage, fidelity and vital action.

South Forks Lions Welcome Visitors

The Lions were privileged to have Lion Crystal Dueker and Lion David Butler, from Fargo, join the club for breakfast at a recent meeting. Thank you for joining us.

Grand Forks Water Treatment Plant

Fred Goetz, Supervisor of the Grand Forks Water Treatment Plant spoke recently at the South Forks Lions Tuesday morning club meeting. Mr Goetz spoke at great length regarding the new facility under construction and the benefits that the city will see once the new facility goes online.

Fred spoke of many issues related to the plant such as design, startup time frame, staffing, costs and many other things related to this rather large project. To get much more in depth information on the new water plant please click on the Treatment Plant Website button below.

The South Forks Lions thank Fred Goetz for taking the time to present this important information to the club.

Club trivia at the Tuesday, September 10 meeting included some questions on baseball and specifically a question on the most homeruns hit out of four players mentioned. The answer to that question was Hank Aaron. Who among you can identify the player shown below? Obviously identifying information was blurred out to make this a bit more difficult. Good luck.

If you are interested in becoming a Lion please speak to a current member or contact us via email.
