DIVISIONAL CROSS COUNTRY Congratulations to our runners who competed at Bundoora Park yesterday. To make it to District level is an achievement in itself, so to then continue on to Divisional level shows an elite level of talent. Well done to all eight runners who acquitted themselves well in trying conditions and special mention to Tabatha who is moving on to compete at the Northern Metropolitan Region Cross Country Championships.

SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING The June meeting of School Council is scheduled for next Thursday, June 21, commencing at 7.30pm in the staffroom. This will be preceded by the Finance Subcommittee meeting held in the Principal’s office at 6.30pm. Please consider joining a subcommittee as discussed in last week’s newsletter – whilst you might not be a member of School Council per se, it is a perfect vehicle to make a significant contribution to our school.

THREE WAY CONFERENCES Bookings open 17th of June for the three-way conferences to be held on Wednesday, June 27 from 11am-7pm. Get in early to get your preferred time!!

END OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS It might seem a little premature, but the end of term is just two weeks away. A reminder that we traditionally finish the term with a whole school assembly from 2.05pm with dismissal at 2.30pm on Friday, June 29. Term 3 commences on Monday, July 16.

That’s all from me this ‘shortened’ week. Have a great weekend.

Kind regards,

Bill Kersing

Principal

Parents Helpers It is imperative that all parents/guardians assisting in the classroom or anywhere on the school grounds to please sign in/out at the office and wear a parent helper badge/lanyard. This is especially important if there is an emergency so that we are aware of who is at the school.

Late Arrival to School If your child is sick, absent or late, you are required to notify the school before 9am on the day of absence, via Compass. Please do not telephone the school. It is a legal requirement that the school receives an explanation from a parent/carer for all absences, late arrivals and early departures via Compass.

If your child is late to school:

  • All students who are late to school MUST report to the office before going to class.
  • The office staff will enter the late arrival time and parent explanation.
  • If students arrive late to school without a parent/caregiver, an unexplained absence note will be generated on Compass which then the parent/caregiver must provide an explanation.

Changes to ‘Early Leavers’ Procedures Parents are required to come to the office when collecting their child early from school and fill in the ‘Early Leavers’ book at the front desk. The Office Staff will ring the classroom and ask for your child to come to the office with their bag. Children are only to be collected by their parent from the front Office (not the classroom). This will minimise disruptions to the children's learning.

Student Absences If your child is sick or absent, you are required to notify the school before 9am on the day of their absence via Compass. Notifying the school of your child’s absence either prior to, or on the day that they will be away, helps ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and will fulfil your legal responsibility.

Please ask the office if you require any further assistance in entering your child's absences on Compass.

Kind regards

Lucy Addati
