Moab to Moab in 200 miles Day 5 The Episode in which the boys end up at the Rodeo

Home for a couple of nights

A morning drive to Canyonlands National Park

Islands in The Sky - Drive

Today we decided to stick to the tarmac
Tempting though...
White Rim Canyon
Clinging to the edge
Where Eagles Dare
Another day another diner

Everything you would want an independent diner to be. The right amount of chrome(too much), nothing on the menu without options, white tiles, gingham, sharp lines and neon signage.

What we didn't expect was a healthy hearts options section. On closer inspection this section for the health conscious included in its 5 options the phrases "Smothered with Cheese" And "Deep Fried" twice, though not in the same menu choice- so fair enough.

You guessed on the road again

We drove by the Colardo River for the Fruita Rimeock Rodeo.

Two boys unreasonably excited

Colorado River

But first a stop off at Colarado National Monument(more big rocks)

And onto the Rodeo

Flag Bearing by the Rodeo Queen
More flag waving
The World Famous?..Rodeo Clown
Cowboy and Cowgirl Safety Team
Catch the steer by the neck...then the hind two feet, check out the cowgirls lasso technique
More team lassooing
Barrel racing
Kicking up dust
Slalom
More Flag Waving

We both totally loved our night at the Rodeo. It was a bit like going to see Bradford City on a Tuesday night, except they had no Bovril or Pies. A great relaxed family feel unless you were on the back of a raging bull- amazing to see the skill that takes

On the way back we parked up by the Colarado River and looked up at the stars, the Milky Way and all of that and marvelled
